I’m back. Back to my personal blog. Hey, I was here for awhile, dropped out, but reappearing with a whole new look and new “stuff” going on in my life. Since I last posted, I have released my new book, “52 Ways to a Healthy You”…and been on the road conducting a media tour. Thus far I have appeared on major affiliates in Tampa, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Baltimore…more to come. It has been wild, wacky and fun. I had a blast in Cleveland on Fox: A show called “That’s Life”. The hosts were so personable, and very “real” for live television. Everyone seemed to enjoy the presentation of “7 Ways in 7 days”. The show had a small group of gals sitting in on the kitchen set called “The Counter Crew” in lieu of a large live audience. How creative! The camera would pan to them for reactions…a riot. They were fab. Especially when I started my rant on how wonderful coffee can be for you (true…in moderation). Actually, a “did you know” fact is that regular coffee drinkers become attached to their daily caffeine ritual due to an elevation of dopamine in their brains. Dopamine is a feel good chemical released in the brain when something that feels great occurs. Hence, coffee drinkers experience this rise in dopamine. Researchers cannot pinpoint if it happens while drinking this surprising pleasure beverage or before…in anticipation of the experience! Wild! Okay, let’s get back on track! My travels, booked by my agency, took me to Tampa which I barely remember and I don’t know why, to Cleveland where I stayed close to an infamous heart center. Los Angeles had me in the heart of Sunset Strip at the Hyatt with my room overlooking all of the action…as I sat and enjoyed a meal from room service. Exciting eh? My appearance on KTLA was fun, fast and I secretly hoped to run into Gene Simmons. I know, bizarre, but I happen to be a fan of this extremely intelligent, creative fellow who happens to have a rather, well, shall we say, active history. Check out his segment on KTLA in their celeb video archives. I bet you’ll end up being intrigued! But wow, what a trip! I spent some time at the “Grove” area and watched the “dancing” waters and the extremely interesting crowd. I also visited the historic Farmer’s Market. Talk about a trip to the past. Loved it. Sacramento took me to the heart of the historic section where I sat and ate wonderful food in a cafe right on the river. The following morning I appeared on a show called “Sacramento and Company”. Finally, Baltimore. I wished I could have stayed longer. Honestly, overall, do you know what I remember most on this recent media tour? The people. Those that were kind, who smiled, who offered a helping hand when I needed it most. I also remember those who were rushing around mindlessly…missing life. All I can say is, after all that I have been through in my life thus far I know this: Life is NOW. Revel in each and every moment. Get connected with the present and those you encounter. And embrace the gifts presented. I will share one more fun item. Dominick. He was the chief flight attendant on my flight from home to Baltimore. His greeting was “How ya doin’” in that oh so north eastern fashion as I boarded the plane. His face was bright and you could see he enjoyed “being”. I responded with a “How ya doin’” back and laughed. I smiled the rest of the plane trip as this fellow spread his positive vibe throughout the plane. Even as “Dom” spoke over the speakers with his thick accent announcing the names of the pilots with one being called “Bob…whose last name is too long for me to pronounce! Whatever!”, the sheer pleasure of his personality produced many smiles. In conclusion, these positive experiences reaffirm the idea to live each day fully. Notice the positive people. Become a positive person. Spread that positive “dust” around to others. Why? Because life is too short! This recent media tour has given me the gift of seeing many things, presenting my message to others of living a great life and most importantly the gift of meeting new people.
